Khin Maung Swe, the leader of the breakaway National Democratic Force (NDF) party, said on Friday that the leaders of the dissolved National League for Democracy (NLD) are prohibiting its former members from dealing with the NDF.

“The NLD prohibits its members from dealing with us [the NDF], saying it has upcoming activities for its members. We found the NLD members in some townships avoid us. They seem to decide that they'll not deal with the NDF,” Khin Maung Swe told The Irrawaddy.

“Before I arrive in an area, the NLD has already contacted its members by phone, asking their members not to deal with us,” added Khin Maung Swe.

Khin Maung Swe said his sources from Mandalay, Magway Division and Shan State reported that the NLD members in those areas said they would take unspecified actions to make sure the NDF can do nothing in those areas when its members campaign there.

“We have members in 50 townships, including Magway, Mandalay and Shan State. So the NLD's disturbance is not effective. They're just against us by mouth,” said Khin Maung Swe.

The NDF was founded by Khin Maung Swe, Dr. Than Nyein, Win Naing and Thein Nyunt, all former  key members of the NLD who disagreed with the NLD executive committee decision not to accept party registration and contest the upcoming election, which resulted in the dissolution of the NLD.

After the party dissolution, the NLD leaders decided to continue its activities, remaining among the public as a social organization and trying to achieve its political goal.

“It's our duty to protect our party to be safe. But we never ask our members not to deal with the NDF,” said Myo Naing, the leader of the NLD's organizing committee, Mandalay Division. “As an example, it's the duty of a landlord to repair his fence to protect him. If he needs to change with a new fence, he must do it. That's his work,”

In response to Khin Maung Swe's accusation of NLD interference with NDF activities, Aye Aye Mar, the leader of the NLD's womens' committee in Meiktila Township, Mandalay Division, said, “We're going on the way to democracy. We're walking on our own way. They [NDF] saying groundless words. The public doesn't accept them.”

“We don't want to respond [to their accusation], as it's a groundless and meaningless accusation,” she added, “The NLD members in our areas still unite as before. They'll never break.”

The NDF registered with the Union Election Commission (UEC) on March 27 and its registration was approved on June 14.

According to the UEC, the registration of 33 parties have been approved thus far.

NLD does and has always acted like a dictator, and yet people still don't see it. Suu Kyi is known, even within the so-called hardcore exile groups, as an unproductive leader, but quite easy to manipulate her, mainly because she is extremely uptight and does not have any touch with real life.

Her image is used just for the sake of legitimating their refuge in Western countries. The worst thing is that Suu Kyi is used just to get sympathy support from around the world. Burmese (who address themselves only Burmese) are so good at living with sympathy.

Karens and Chins are worse than Burmese in making sure they forever receive sympathy support from British and Americans. Well - many of them can't stand up for themselves and forever live on hand-outs.

Don't worry, NDF. Only those, who don't know real Suu Kyi and her inability, support her. Many of them are quite uneducated people, and world politicians are also using these people for their personal and political gain.

I am not a member of NLD or any political party. But I can see that U Khin Mg Swe is now frustrated for one reason or another and wants to put blame on the NLD, his parental home.

It was, first and foremost, his lack of faith in democratic practice and perhaps a clinging to the idea of a Hluttaw seat that lured him to break away. So, he should not be complaining of non-cooperation from the staunch, loyal NLD members.

Be gentlemanly and build up your own political clout if you sincerely think you can waork without the assistqnce of your parental home, U Khin Mg Swe.

Long live, NLD! Long live Daw Aung San Suu Kyi!

The beginning of infighting among the Ex NLD member?

One adhering to Daw Suu Kyi and the old guards' dogma and will not allow the other to participate in the coming referendum.

If everyone believes SPDC is going to win by hook or by crook what is the harm of participation or none participation?

1) By participation, against SPDC even under this sham condition of a referendum the % on no votes will be seen, clearly.

2) By not participating, as surly as SPDC will claim a 100% eligible voters participation their possible sham victory will be used to their advantage as legitimacy to rule Myanmar.

Let those who wish to participate do so without hindrance.

Chances are they will be voting for candidates that are least affiliated with SPDC.

That itself is a small but important step away from present unacceptable scenario.
Daw Suu Kyi "right not to vote" a consistent anti SPDC dogma is no change from her "who care how much the citizenry suffer" approach.

That iself is worth an indepth review.

The sad truth is that Khin Maung Shwe is right. I spoke with Win Tin twice the last couple of weeks. He said that "NLD youth members will punish the NDF" and that the NLD will advise voters not to vote for NDF.

Sad isn't it?

First Aung San Suu Kyi and Win Tin announce that the forming of NDF is undemocratic and now this...

It seems to me that NLD is not as democratic as they say they are. They have a lot to learn and sadly are only hampering progress at the moment.

NDF does the right thing. So, We will vote for you in 2010 election. Don't worry. We appreciate you and NDF.

We, all 60M of Myanmar people are now fully supporting you. Go ahead. Not necessary to look back at the jealeous NLD Suu Kyi and her loyalists. (Suu Kyi is a typical jealeous British housewife only, She is not Myanmar woman)

NDF leaders are expected as newly elected Prime Minister and Ministers in cabinet.

Khin Maung Swe is merely an opportunist and saying groundless and baselss unworthy words.

Irrawaddy shall review and rethink several times before publishing a news report like this. This kind of news does not only discredit NLD integrity, unity and your nice publication but also it will make Khin Maung Swe go down in the ditch further. He may be thinking and dreaming building a palace in the wind. Poor baby Khin Maung Swe. I know about him very well since my imprisonment in Myingyan.
