The regime's shiny new political vehicle may just be a rust-bucket of old parts, but without any other traffic in its way it will surely be able to cross the finishing line first.

Very good article.

"Do not susprise for that".

Today in Myanmar, all car owners are doing the same practice. As a 20 year-old car's price is much higher than a 2010 model Porsche 911.(Import permit controlled by UMFCCI & Generals, the public is unable to buy the new cars.)

So, what do the public do, actually? People bought the old cars near the Thai border and changed everything (body & engine and interiors) but only keeping the same colour and number plate for further registration.

"The registration number has not been changed yet but people have to use the nearly brand new condition".

Brooker (pwe sar) called as " A lone change".

Junta does this practice. We should accept IF the condition becomes much better than now. Why not?

It is the same old rusty car with the same old engine. Nothing new to see. Everything is power base, corrupt political system. The only thing these people care about is power in their hands and enslaving the country. However, the positive thing is, they can't fool anybody any more. All of their lies are written on the wall.

Kyaw Zwa Moe fails to note the COLOR of the paint of the car and MAKE as well, I noticed.
It is GREEN and MADE in Naypyidaw by infamous engineer Than Shwe.
Yes, this car is fitted with the most powerful engine (SPDC) in Burma and motor (USDP)and no less than Thein Sein would be behind the wheel.
Hence, this car would cross the line first on a route and track, manned and flagged by men in green all the way to the checkered (chequered) flag no doubt.
The NLD is shrewd and sensible and has the sanity to opt out of this race, rigged and routed to serve Than Shwe's aim - WIN - and purpose - POLITICIZE the MILITARY in future Burma forever.
Only power-driven paupers and political pimps like Thu Wai and others including some strays from the NLD also without PRIDE or PRINCIPLE least of all would think of or contest in Than Shwe's rigged race.
Woe and behold those who HONOR and ACCEPT the OUTCOME of this FARCE and they would rue the day for bearing witness and acknowledging this UNFAIR and UNJUST FACT.

Quote: 'they(Gen Than Shwe and cronies) have decided that this is an existential thing for them. If they are out, it's not the country and the government that have changed, but 'where do I go?' and 'which jail will I be in? and my children and my jewels and my billions?' Unquote - PM, S'pore

So, whatsoever we guys dub '2010' as:

- 'Old Wine,New Bottle'
or
- 'Revamped, Repainted Shiny New Car with Old Engine Parts inside'

'2010' is an existential thing for them.

But it is quite pathetic that they are not aware that a repeat history of the national uprising (1988) is lurking.

Observations show that if they are shortsighted, unimaginative and frightened (which they are), they will rigidly resist change and thereby escalate the risks of violence and their own destruction (eg. Romania's Nicolae Ceausescu's end, 1989).

The trouble is, if you are corrupted with 'absolute power' for almost two decades, you lose touch with reality and even the vision for your own survival.

"The USDA says it has about 24 million members (most of whom were forcibly recruited."

I seriously doubt anyone was "forcibly recruited". How do you do that? I think most people don't even know they are members. Some local authority will be asked how many people he has managed to recruit into the USDA and will give every name he knows.
