No matter who becomes involved, it is evident that the junta’s only choice is to finish the work of the National Convention and embark upon the bumpy road to constitutional governance. The SPDC may not succeed but its tenacity is apparent. The generals know a constitution can protect them and help them retain power. And power is what they’ve always sought.
