As soon as they realize the regime is not sustainable, we will start to see change in Burma.

The big question is: who will make sure the regime can no longer live in a state of denial? Who will pull the plug and make clear to the regime that it can’t survive?

In an emergency, the right diagnosis and prescription are imperative. If a patient needs open heart surgery, antibiotics aren’t going to help.

So, this is the best chance and best time for change in Burma, provided a strong political will exists. A democratic Burma is not in doubt—it’s only a question of how and when.
