But it is like the word “Myanmar.” An awkward word not used in daily speech among the Burmese populace who usually refer to the military as “Sit-tut” and soldiers as “Sit-ther.”

The Burmese economy is in the doldrums making people crave for foreign input of all sorts with unknown consequences. But the real problem is the immense effort to arm and kill each other taking away land and labor from production.

But instead of stopping that and using time and labor efficiently, the next plan seems to be to beg for more foreign money and directives, increasing more coercions, more land confiscations and more killing. The future is not so bright as people would be desperate to believe, especially for the likes of the four boys.

USDP Plans Dirty Tricks Campaign for Burma By-election

It is very clear that one of the benchmarks for the military is to accept free and fair elections. A watchdog for elections is virtually non-existent in military-ruled Burma. The foreign observers and news and media must monitor the irregularities of the ruling junta. People must prepare for plan B if the military rigs the election. D-day is coming. Be prepared.—Timothy

Myo Chit's view was weird. How could any 'path to democratic' country ultimately accept such brutality and nonsense as 'government' no matter what the clothes. It is sort of OK - in the interim - with conditions...including human safety.

It is only now that any human logic or 21st century thinking is starting to seep through the mess.

It is realling interesting to read the comments of the readers on such top stories. All this plainly points out that the low- down dirty ploys of the "still" military regime are still there, for instance prohibiting the use of football stadium for NLD mass rallies by the Sports Ministry which had to be overruled by the Elections Commission. Such low-down tactics can only come from the loathsome sittut.
