Assaults o­n Karen refugee camps o­n Thai territory have left 10,000 homeless, over 40 injured, and 4 dead. While Thai authorities and international agencies make equivocal statements about how best to deal with this problem, the Burmese military exploits the weakness of its “enemies” and the legacy of Aung San, who would surely have been appalled to see his fight for freedom turn into a war of oppression.
